An 835m² purpose-built facility in Ruakākā for Meridian Energy, delivered with a strong focus on sustainability and local Northland involvement.
Meridian Energy, one of New Zealand’s largest listed companies generating around a third of the country’s electricity from renewable sources, developed the Ruakaka Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to strengthen the national electricity network and support the transition to renewable energy.
ARCO Group was honoured to be selected to construct the switching station building and an operations & maintenance facility building. Timber was used in the structures to support sustainable construction and align with the project’s renewable energy objectives. The buildings were delivered on schedule and to the highest standards.
